Bit late with this one due to the distractions of last week, but the latest reading of the BludgerTrack poll aggregate records discernible movement to Labor after a period of stasis, with both Newspoll and Essential Research recording 53-47 leads to Labor. Labor is up three on the seat projection, with gains in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Both pollsters produced leadership ratings this week, but they haven’t made much difference to the relevant aggregates.
BludgerTrack: 52.7-47.3 to Labor
The gap between Labor and the Coalition widens in this week’s poll aggregate reading, on the strength of similar results from Newspoll and Essential Research.

Sanders spent six months bad-mouthing Clinton.
Apart from the damage to Clinton’s personal standing, this forced Clinton away from the centre on policy.
Long after he was a goner, Sanders kept smiting Clinton.
Sanders duly swung in behind Clinton but it was too little, too late.
A few progressive Sanders supporters flicked across to Trump.
Many stayed at home because Bernie had told them hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times that Hilary was no damn good.
Now the progressives want to tell us that what the progressives did to Clinton would not have made the difference between getting a POTUS Clinton and a POTUS Trump.
The Progressive Pontius Pilate stuff is in full swing. Not only that but wallowing in outrage is soooooooo satisfying.
The Greens POTUS candidate was never, ever going to elect a president. It was therefore a vanity project.
A Greens vote was a choice between Clinton and Trump foregone.
Again, the Greens votes would have made the difference between Clinton and Trump.
Again, the Greens are doing a Pontius Pilate: POTUS Trump has absolutely nothing to do with them.
Again, the Progressive Pontius Pilate stuff is in full swing. Not only that, but wallowing in outrage is soooooooo satisfying.
Corbyn help give the Brits Brexit. Di Natale helped give Australia Turnbull. Sanders and the US Greens helped give us Trump.
In every single case the progressive race to ideological purity, the quest for everything, has landed the rest of us with 100% of nothing.
The progressives need to understand something here. Our governance systems give us binary choices. To the extent that they disable one pole of the binary, they enable the other pole.
And until the progressives understand this very basic construct, they will continue to promote global warming, racism, xenophobia, homophobia and misogyny.

The last three times I have taken tablets, rather than drink the revolting solution. It’s quicker and works much better, IMO. I don’t understand why it’s not offered to everyone: you have to specifically ask for it. It’s about $20 for the tablets (you have to take lots), but it’s definitely worth it.

Given that the Greens didn’t gain anything from it, then the answer is no.
Labor still gained 14 seats no matter what the Greens did or said. Any anti-Labor statements from Di Natalie did the Greens no favours at all. The only way they’ll ever win any seats from Labor is if they present themselves as, and field candidates who are, very similar to the Labor incumbents.
The Greens can win seats from the Libs because they are very different. If they present themselves as being different to Labor in safe Labor seats, they don’t stand a chance in hell.
The only way Labor will be threatened by the Greens in safe Labor seats is if the Labor party fields a dud candidate, like Feeney.
The real enemy is, and always will be, the LNP.

Continuing to support the status quo, as you are doing, will get us nowhere..
The racism, xenophobia and misogyny are symptoms, not causes, of economic malaise in large swathes of the western world. It is basic human biology to start attacking other groups which are rightly or wrongly perceived to be in front of you in the queue for resources.
This economic malaise is the product of a perfect storm created by a combination of neoliberal trickle-down economics, technological change, such as automation, and the globalisation of production. To combat the problem we government that is prepared to intervene in this cycle and redistribute wealth, providing living wages to people for a wide variety of jobs that are now considered unimportant in terms of productivity, such as health care, the arts, and environmental projects.
We have the economic means to do this. Technological disruption is pushing productivity through the roof, at the same time as it is destroying jobs. We need to leverage this productivity and divert money away from big capital and towards the regions, where the environmental battles are being fought, and towards those who are being displaced.
Any political party that wants to achieve the best outcomes in a time of rapid change needs to clearly articulate policies that will achieve these aims. Labor is captive of the neoliberal small government agenda promoted by business and the conservatism of the unions. I don’t know about the Greens.
The world is on track for 100% solar renewable energy for all energy requirements by 2030. This is simple mathematical extrapolation from current trends where solar penetration of the energy market is doubling every two years. Self driving cars, trucks buses etc will be the norm within a couple of years.
None of the mainstream parties are even remotely prepared for this and the huge social dislocation that will occur. It is both a crisis and an opportunity.
I don’t know if any of you work for Catherine King (who is evidently Shadow Health Minister, although she seems invisible) but she has really dropped the ball on the governments changes to what Private Health Funds cover. Susan Ley has told the insurers they no longer have to look after patients who have skin cancers on the body, and don’t have to look after precancerous lesions, cysts or benign tumours anywhere (including nose, eyelids etc). 12 million people have just been shafted by the government to increase the profits of the health funds. King should be attacking Ley but she’s completely silent.

Continuing to support the status quo, as you are doing, will get us nowhere..’
The Greens and the progressives just handed global warming on a plate to the fossil fuel industry in the United States. They have just guaranteed that we will go 2 degrees plus.
The OLD status quo was that Obama was doing stuff and taking world leadership on this. Clinton WAS going to follow in Obama’s footsteps here.
Trump is going to walk away from Paris, is giving the Energy Department to a couple of oil company executives and sincerely believes that global warming is a Chinese plot.
That is the NEW status quo.
But fie! How dare Obama and Clinton not be the perfect Greens, the 100 per center progressives? How DARE they not the pure characters, the blameless personalities and the perfect Sanders… the powerless Sanders, the worse than useless Sanders, the counter-productive Sanders? How DARE they?
The US Greens and the US progressives with their vanity projects, their 100% purity, and their destructive capacities in the ballot box, have just handed the planet on a plate to the fossil fuel industry. See? You guys DO make a difference!
I will concede this to you, TROG. The Greens/progressives have achieved THEIR US status quo: 100% of nothing, a cooked planet, and the thrill of being outraged.

The development of anaemia was detected by the Blood Bank when I went to make my regular 3 monthly donation.
It was surprising as I have hemochromatosis – the accumulation of excess iron.
So what could cause the sudden change? I was having regular blood tests so nothing was picked up by way of deficiencies apart from iron.
Once internal bleeding was excluded, I was put on a course of iron tablets until I was back to normal and I was also advised to cease blood donations.
My suggestion, that I was not magnetic enough to hold the iron, was rejected in favour of it simply being changes in metabolism due to ageing.
I never had ambitions to be a doctor, but increasingly I am fascinated by matters medical.

‘The racism, xenophobia and misogyny are symptoms , not causes, of economic malaise in large swathes of the western world.’
1. To the extent that any or all of them are used (and they are so used) to justify and entrench or accelerate gross disparities in power and wealth, the ARE causes of economic malaise.
2. Global warming of 2 degrees plus will now happen in any time frame within which it is possible to posit a fundamental fix for the economic malaise in large swathes of the whole world. You are right to couple the two issues to a large extent but the former can be fixed without the latter being fixed. The latter will get worse with global warming.
3. Neither of either sides of 1 or 2 justifies the US Greens and the US progressives partially disabling Clinton and therefore enabling Trump, and thereby cooking the planet.
4. None of Clinton’s personal failings and none of her policy failings are, combined, worse than cooking the planet.
So we get the routine 100% of nothing. While THEY cook the planet.
Well done.
Ah, okay. They do tell you to drink a whole glass of water with each lot of four tablets, and I can imagine that some people might skimp on some of the water, but I can’t see it would be a problem if you drink enough.
Is there a medical reason why the “over 60s” should have a problem with dehydration that younger people don’t? Perhaps the docs on here could explain …
