Minister Burney might be able to take a jet out to a remote community dripping with Gucci and tell people in the dirt what’s good for them but they’re in the dark and they have been in the dark,” Senator Price said in Canberra on Monday.
_____________________
She never recovered from that deadly sledge.

Yet Burney is self made, born into poverty (having to be raised by her elderly aunt and uncle). While Price was born to a well off family and grew up in a life of comparative luxury.
As if Senator PriceOfEverythingValueOfNothing never wears Gucci 😆

$300/year Electricity Bill rebate.
It’s rubbish as Policy and doesn’t make up for galloping Inflation under Albanese.
Life won’t be easy under Albanese?

It was already at 6.1% under Morrison. If anyone is to blame for allowing that horse to gallop out of its stable. It is the Morrison LNP Government. While wholesale electricity prices also peaked under the Morrison LNP Government at $264 per megawatt hour (MWh) in the June Qtr 2022.
Burney and O’Connor being managed out for a reshuffle is just a bit of window dressing for this Govt.
The agenda doesn’t change, because head office calls the shots.

None for me but I also would not expect to be a beneficiary of government largesse.

You would expect someone on a political blog to be more clued up than the average polling companies cold call recipient. I have no idea about those figures. We really need to compare it with historical results when people were asked the same question to know if it is higher or lower than normal. I expect the average person are more clued on during elections. So the response percentage in the affirmative might be higher at those times just because of that reason too.

Half-arsed Labor strikes again.
Where are the sanctions against the Netanyahu Govt ???
This insipid sucking up to the US is shameful.
Does it mean a month after S3 hit no one noticed? Or doesn’t attribute it to Labor?
Mostly Interested: There was always going to be tax cuts under Coalition and Labor.
Lower and middle income earners are better off under Labor but that has not been communicated well with all the dramas of the middle east, USA etc.
“Name one government initiative that has benefited you. ”
Only one? I was going to say the electricity rebate and revised Stage 3 tax cuts benefits our household via Xanthippe’s income.
Maybe I’m just lucky?
Is the electricity rebate eligible? The question states “directly”. Along with “personally” and “financially”. A very specific question.
Where are the sanctions against the hamas Govt ???
Additionally, is it “benefited” or is it “benefitted in relation to the taxes paid”
Its an odd question that needs more data.
davo… dfat explains it preeettty simply; Australia has listed Hamas as a terrorist organisation and it is also a designated entity subject to counter-terrorism financing sanctions under the Australian sanctions law. It is a criminal offence to fund terrorist organisations, either directly or indirectly.
So yeh, Hamas is already “sanctioned”…
Davo
Hamas is a listed terrorist organisation, which imposes all sorts of sanctions under australian law, some of which are described here:
https://www.nationalsecurity.gov.au/what-australia-is-doing/terrorist-organisations
Contrast that with the list of concrete actions the australian government has taken against the Israeli government
.
..
…
….
…..
I’m sure you can spot the difference
Australia is sanctioning settlers, and it is also supporting Israel, as it should be, in the
destruction of hamas. If hamas always uses human shields and fights from civilian infrastructure
the civilian death toll is entirely their responsibility.
davo, thats flatly wrong but William has made it clear this topic gets messy, so thats all ill say on it.
I think Linda Burney is a gem, a pocket rocket who gave it everything she had trying to make the world a better place for all of us. I’m going to ignore the critics and remember her with a smile and deep respect. Her detractors can all go jump- I’m not wasting another thought on trailer park trash talkers.
If they’re not careful, we could all end up as grey “black soldier fly” goo anyways…
“Australian Scientists Genetically Engineer Common Fly Species To Eat More of Humanity’s Waste”
Australian scientists at Macquarie University are engineering black soldier flies to consume more organic waste, reducing methane emissions from landfills. The modified flies will produce valuable byproducts like biofuels, lubricants, and animal feed. Their work, aimed at enhancing waste management, has led to the creation of EntoZyme to commercialize this technology.

Nup can’t think of anything this federal government has done but can give the state government a few ticks. This government didn’t initiate stage 3 tax cuts so don’t count.
“This government didn’t initiate stage 3 tax cuts so don’t count.”
Bollocks. The ALP changes to the S3 cuts meant an extra ….. $1400 or so for my disposable income compared to what i would have gotten under the Liberal plan.
Electricity rebates (fed and state) help out a lot.

Back to my thought about S3. I said a few months back that once S3 hit peoples hip pockets, and if there was an interest rate cut the the Labor government would make it back into a majority government. It is kind of worrying that S3 might not have made a mark on peoples consciousness.
alot of voters probably have not done their tax return and are still waiting to get the refund

those under $45,000 and over would lose the extra tax cuts they get if it was under the federal lib/nats
Stage 3 only came in a few weeks ago and support for policy builds overtime so Mostly Interested is probably right that if interest rates get cut labor could get a majority.

The current tax return would be for the 23/24 financial year. This tax cut is for the 24/25 financial year. People should see this tax cut on their payslip. As their income started to get taxed less from 1st of July 2024. Though there would have been only one fortnightly payslip since then showing that less taxed income.
So yougov had no 2pp?
It amuses me that that Horse Shoe mob again sing the same song …Something like……. “What has Labor actually done in the past two years to benefit/improve/move Oz along/repair the long nine years of poor LNP government?”.

Fewer people will get a refund from their 2023-24 return then the previous year because the Low and Medium Income Offset was not extended to 2023-24. Those that do get a refund will get less then the previous year (all else being equal). More taxpayers will actually have a debit assessment.

Labor’s revised S3 Tax cuts favoured people voting for them anyway – how dumb can you get?
Then the way it was sold –
Look what we’ve done for you, peasants
left a lot to be desired.
Basically, Brittany Higgins was the worst thing that could have happened for AlboLabor, because he couldn’t deliver on the implicit promise that he would make women’s lives safer.
The incredible realisation is no one in Labor had the foresight to ask
What are we getting into here?

I assume most people get some form of electronic one from their employer. As the money going into bank is only net income. I assume you get something which tells you gross income and how much tax was taken out of it. To get the net income amount that went into your bank account.

Who checks their emails to find out how much Tax they didn’t pay?
Nobody.
People are so resigned to working 4 months/year for the Government they don’t even ask where all that money, basically their life’s blood, went.
Which is, Medical Overservicing and the NDIS, which replaced a perfectly workable system, but created a new class of unskilled Labor voters.
Are we still going with the GDP/Tax ratio as the measure for how “high taxing” a Government is?

I think people do it occasionally to check they are being paid the correct wage by their employer. I doubt they do it very often though.
People who budget properly look at their pay slips, that’s who.
And believe it or not it’s a legal requirement to provide a payslip. Thank the unions and Labor for that (ie a good thing).
