The fortnightly Essential Research poll is one of the more encouraging sets of recent polling numbers for Labor, finding them up three on the primary vote to 32% with the Coalition up one to 34%, the Greens down two to 11%, One Nation down one to 7%, and the undecided component steady at 7%. Labor has its nose back in front on the pollster’s 2PP+ measure, up one to 47% with the Coalition down two to 46% and the remainder undecided. Anthony Albanese also improves on the monthly leadership ratings, up three on approval to 43% and down three on disapproval to 46%, while Peter Dutton is up one on approval to 42% and down one on disapproval 41%.
Also featured are some particularly interesting results on US politics, including a finding that Donald Trump was viewed more favourably in the survey period than he had been after the 2020 election (but before January 6). Trump was viewed favourably by 36% and unfavourably 56%, compared with 20% and 72% in 2020, and 23% felt Australia’s relationship with the United States would improve under Trump compared with 37% who felt it would worsen, the corresponding results last time being 7% and 63%.
A very occasional series of questions on unions suggests they are strongly supported, with 64% rating them important to working people today and 26% rating them unimportant, respectively up four points and two points, and a 63-37 split recorded in favour of them being good for the economy over bad. A third of respondents felt Labor was too close to the unions, another third felt the balance was about right, 10% thought they weren’t close enough, and the remainder weren’t sure. Labor scored higher than the Coalition on a series of questions involving the rights of workers, including a slight edge on the question of “ensuring unions are operating ethically”, with Labor favoured by 27% and the Coalition favoured by 23%. The poll was conducted Wednesday to Sunday from a sample of 1137.
The weekly Roy Morgan poll has Labor leading 50.5-49.5 on its respondent-allocated two-party measure, and by 51-49 when it applies preference flows from 2022. The primary votes are Labor 30.5% (down one), Coalition 37.5% (down two), Greens 13% (steady) and One Nation 6.5% (up one-and-a-half). The poll was conducted Monday to Sunday from a sample of 1652.

I thought so too. Until Badthinker gave me the bad news that case will now be about Reynolds vs Channel 10 and News Corp. While i might be willing to be on the side of Channel 10. If News Corp is on that side too, it might be a bridge to far.

No, I really don’t think people should be doxxed. I wouldn’t want anyone to do that to any of you.

EDIT:
To be further clear, Badthinker, I think you’re a cowardly bigoted racist who most likely hides behind a pseudonym to express views that would see you ostracised from those who think they know you were your views to be known.
It’s very many years since I heard this factoid of anthropometric difference between male and female forearms. As a teen, I was told that it made women better at holding a baby in the crook of their arms.
Not sure what that has to do with Olympic sport prowess as I can’t think of a sport that it might be relevant to. In this modern age, the difference might contribute to supporting preconceived ideas.

Who would have thought and believed that it was a “significant break down in situational awareness” on the part of the IDF that resulted in the killing of Zomi Frankcom and her six colleagues? That this was the conclusion reached must be cold comfort for the families of these aid workers, even if the killing was done by the most moral army in the world.

Why would anyone believe this.? Did Australia have on the ground access or Was this based on just what they were told by Israel? We have form of making statements and acting without evidence like UNRWA. Tell me if anyone has actually read the report
One Nation has 1 seat in the Qld parliament held by Mirani MP Stephen Andrew but he’s been disendorsed by Pauline Hanson. As most often happens since its 1998 arrival things eventually breakdown. He’ll probably head over to KAP giving them 4 seats: https://x.com/Qldaah/status/1819238834758209614

Not fully across this & just skimmed through the Guardian links, I would have thought it’s not possible to impute a politician ( of either party) they just need to not be so thin skinned & get on with it.. Reynolds getting a conga line of cabinet colleagues to testify on her behalf just shows they are all thin skinned & born with a sense of entitlement … after all they probably formed the most corrupt government in Australian history

The IDF is a very undisciplined army rife with infighting. As we know with the rape of Palestinian prisoners situation. Who knows what atrocities people who think they can get away with raping prisoners, in holding cells where there is a degree of oversight existing. Would think they could get away with doing in a war zone? I’m not saying it was ordered through official channels. I’m saying there are many IDF units who are basically rogue. Who follow far right nationalistic beliefs and their immoral actions are based on that ideology.
Zomi Frankcom should have a statue in a place of significance. An Australian hero.
The politics in all this is sickening.

Boxing is a true sport. Person versus person, no machinery involved.
When younger, I boxed. It was the most demanding sport I had ever done. It has everything a good sport should be in terms of physical and mental skills.
When I was boxing, I had an altercation with some unknown while out for a walk. He eventually grabbed me my by the front of my shirt and pull his other clenched fist behind his head to let me have it. I didn’t budge or even raise my heartbeat as I knew if he moved his fist a millimeter towards me, he would regret it.
He somehow perceived that continuing was not a good idea, let go and left.
I think if I was in that situation now, I would have to change my underpants.
In Paris Olympics, Australia has won 8 Gold medals. All are won by Female Athletes( 5 swimming, 2 kayaking, and 1 cycling).
On a complete non-issue of arms, forearms and the like, I have never understood why a right/left handed tennis player – say – did not have huge muscles in the natural left/right arm compared to the other? The right hander tosses the ball up with the left hand, but stokes with the right. Commonsense would suggest the right arm would be a long stronger???
Regardless, the arms seem symmetrical …….Same applies to any athlete who may be right or left naturally. I am sure there is a logical reason.

Those Israeli soldiers certainly didn’t distinguish themselves and they deserve what they get.
It does make me wonder though how many of the HAMAS terrorists who raped the Israeli women so viciously and murdered young children on 7 October have been charged with anything. At least the IDF has shown that it disapproves of such behaviour.
Unfortunately I will be unable to pull the Dawn Patrol together tomorrow morning. The power cord to my computer has given up the ghost so I’ll have to go down to the flatlands to get a new one.

Brunson is either unaware of the previous failed chromosomal tests or is deliberately trying to stir up further controversy.
Just because the parents chose to raise their child as a girl does not mean they are biologically a girl.
If they have XY chromosomes then they are likely to have had the benefit of male puberty and all the significant physical advantages over females due to that from the large amounts of testosterone.

I would also now be scared by violence because I am old and have had a heart attack but when I was young I also had similar experiences because I trained in karate. Learning to fight so you do not have to fight. And boxing is my favourite sport.

They are unlikely to be charged. As a number of Government Ministers in Israel have voiced support for them. The Government want risk having legal proceedings against them. So unlike Hamas who has had their whole homeland obliterated and a good percentage of them killed. I doubt there will be any retribution for these low life’s.

Most athletes that have a handedness to their sport do develop imbalances. TV isn’t that good for spotting it.
Despite your opinion, the IDF and the Israeli Justice system has and does charge military members with crimes that they carry out in the course of their duties. There are plenty of examples of it over the years.
The fact that lots of Jew haters and Israel haters think that the IDF just breathing is a crime, which means that they are always unhappy with any outcome. They have no problem with holding Israel to a far higher standard than any of its enemies.

Lets see what happens then. Certainly many politicians have come out on the side of torture and against justice. Maybe more moral heads in the IDF will prevail over the immorality in the current Government but i doubt it.
“Rejecting these charges against the soldiers, a right wing mob that included members of the Parliament from the Likud and the Religious Zionist and Jewish Power blocs, then attempted several times to storm through the gates of the facility and finally succeeded in breaching the military barricades, attacking MPs and reaching the area where Palestinians are held. One soldier said that no one seemed to be in control. The unruly crowd chanted its support for torture and even called for the summary execution of the Palestinian prisoners.”

Rod Laver, a leftie, had an observably far larger left arm musculature compared to his right.
“At the US Open in 1968, venerable New York Times sportswriter Dave Anderson measured Laver’s left arm. His wrist was 7 inches around, an inch more than his right wrist. His forearm was 12 inches around, an inch and a half more than his right forearm. Anderson wrote that his left forearm was the same size as that of heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano and an inch and a half larger than that of boxer Floyd Patterson.”

The Israeli Army shot dead three Israeli hostages who had escaped their Hamas captives. IIRC, at least one of them was waving a white cloth. Either their rules of engagement are far too open, or some of their soldiers are not obeying them (or both). Either is a failure of leadership.

Thanks for the good news about the MG EV price cut. Being the first EVs on sale in Australia for (just) under $35K that is excellent IMO.

It is also good news in terms of a turnaround in price inflation in the Australian market. Hopefully more of that sort of news might dissuade the RBA from raising the interest rate, and risk of recession, further.
FUBAR, maybe a well trained military would accept the risks of hostages in a combat zone versus the safety of their troops.
Maybe, just maybe, when you launch an entire military operation on the pretence of rescuing said hostages…
